Abstract

In this paper, we analyze the performance of a lightpath configuration method for optical add/drop multiplexer (OADM) in WDM asymmetric ring network. We consider a multiple queueing system for a node in the ring network and derive loss probability and wavelength utilization factor. Numerical examples show how arrival rate from access network and the threshold specified in the dynamic configuration method affect loss probability and wavelength utilization factor. In addition, comparing the proposed method with static configuration method, the loss probability under the proposed method can be almost the same as that under the static method where lightpaths are pre-established such that all wavelengths in the network are used efficiently.
