Abstract

While the importance of verification and validation (V&V) techniques in knowledge-based systems (KBS) development is well recognised, little attention (if any) has been paid to their potential role in the context of artificial intelligence teaching. We present an interactive learning environment that aims to promote independent learning by students undertaking knowledge engineering assignments. An innovative feature of the approach is the use of V&V techniques to provide automated feedback to students prior to submission of coursework.
