Abstract

The aim of the SmartKom project is to develop an intelligent, multimodal computer-user interface which can deal with various kinds of input and allows a quasi-natural communication between user and machine. This contribution is concerned with the design of the Graphical User Interface (GUI) of the Wizard-of-Oz recordings. Our special interest was to create a display different from known internet applications which could motivate the users to communicate with the machine also via gestures. The following sections give a short overview about the system itself followed by a detailed description of the used methods and the results in the first phase. To conclude, a short overwiew of the methods we implemented in the second phase is given.
