Abstract

Designed strands of DNA were used to construct a nanomachine with the appearance of a pair of scissors. Further strands of DNA were then employed to close and reopen the handles of the scissors with resultant closing and reopening of the jaws with a change in angle of 10掳. It was further shown that it is possible to open the handles wider than their equilibrium position, with resultant widening of the jaws.
