Abstract

In this paper we describe a class of portals, called adaptive portals. Adaptive portals support environments characterized by real tasks, collaboration, and integration of appliances, from desktop to wireless. Such portals provide support for communities of users to access shared content within domains, defined by corporate, community or private interests. The content must reflect the context of the current state of the task and, at the same time, the reality of the display characteristics of the particular device in use.
