Abstract

This paper presents investigations into the three kinds of per-hop behaviors of Diffserv networks. The investigations were carried out using Queen's University IP Simulator v2.0 (QUIPS-II). In terms of packet delay and packet drop rate, the per-hop behaviors were observed under various traffic and network parameters. The results show that the per-hop behaviors can efficiently differentiate between service levels on the Internet.
