Abstract

There has been little interest in research of high speed networks under heavy load. Only some special areas, like media access has been intensely studied. Within this paper we present an approach to a more formal view of load conditions in high speed networks. We clearly show what load conditions are and combine this work with a practical approach for generating load. We introduce an architecture for generating-defined load conditions in high speed networks and show how to use them for performance evaluation.
