Abstract

An Interactive Audio and Video Station named IAVS over Internet is presented in this paper. The IAVS system is a personal audio and video multicast transmission system and provides an interactive two-way communication over Internet. IAVS provides two features using the realtime multimedia interaction technique. The first one is that IAVS audience can transmit his voice to the IAVS server with a call-in operation. The second one is that IAVS offers the dual server mode to allow a secondary DJ, who is geographically separated from the main DJ, to join the program. That is, two geographically separated DJs cooperatively control the program. Many Internet entertainment applications, such as talk show and music station, can be constructed using IAVS. Related technique issues and the corresponding system development of IAVS are presented in detail in the paper.
