The RSE(Reed-Solomon Erasure) code is widely used to prevent packet loss over a lossy network. RSE-code-based FEC does not require additional network delay but needs much additional network bandwidth to transmit redundant data. Thus, an effective redundancy control mechanism is required to minimize the amount of redundancy. In this paper, we propose a redundancy control algorithm for RSE-code-based FEC that can adjust the amount of redundancy depending on network loss conditions as well as the prioirty of frames. Experiments show that RSE-code-based FEC with the proposed redundancy control algorithm considerably reduces the amount of redundancy and keeps the frame loss rate under any threshold.
