Abstract

In the present paper we present the implementation and application of a system for computer semantic processing of Greek verbs occurring in Greek Stock Market Texts. The system has been implemented with the programming language Prolog and it accomplishes functions like the automatic detection of circular definitions and the automatic transformation of definitions into special forms in which verbs that express basic concepts are used. The application of the system concerns the interface of a user with an Intelligent Information Extraction and Text Mining System, which is under construction. The Computational Lexicon constructed supports the Deductive Mining of Knowledge from Texts about the behaviour of companies. The knowledge acquired is used for the answering of questions about the behaviour of companies from the texts using the ARISTA method.
