As the mobile handsets emerges as Internet ready devices, network enabled are among the most useful and visible aspects of the Internet. A wide variety of information appliances are ready for Internet access and advances in network technologies accelerate this trend. Such devices cope with constraints that do not exist in PC. The mobile multimedia services require improvements in embedded network software engineering. The issues in embedded network software engineering are presented. A framework of new network software architecture is presented. Implications towards mobile multimedia are discussed.
