This paper introduces an improved antenna arrays (AA) in which the reverse-link synchronous transmission technique (RLSTT) is employed to improve the estimation of covariance matrices at Beam-former-RAKE. By beamforming, the desired user's signal is enhanced and the co-channel interference (CCI) from other directions is reduced. For in-beam multiple access interference (MAI) reduction, the RLSTT is used in the first RAKE finger. The RLSTT is a robust approach that takes into account the fact that the in-beam MAI statistics at the beam-former may be less valid and lets it be more reliable. Theoretical analysis demonstrates that an increase in system capacity as a function of the number of antennas and the number of interferences.
