Setting realistic expectations for a requirements measurement exercise and assessing the real benefits resulting from the implementation of metrics in Requirements Engineering (RE) is a key challenge for many information systems (IS) organizations. This paper describes how a project team can demonstrate a connection between efforts invested in requirements reuse measurement and business results in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) projects. We provide an approach to analyzing and assessing the benefits gained from integrating requirements reuse measurement practices in the ERP RE process. Dependencies between requirements measurement activities and RE activities and deliverables are studied in the context of SAP R/3 implementation projects.
