Abstract

This paper addresses the readiness of telecommunication employees in adopting data mining technologies. In addition, the paper highlights the relationship between employee data mining readiness and the clarity of the business strategy, users' skills and experience, data-driven culture, and data quality. The investigations reveal an encouraging degree of readiness by the employees to embrace data mining and the findings also show high levels of optimism and innovativeness. The implications here are two-fold: first, the employees are optimistic that data mining can improve efficiency as well as allow greater flexibility and control at work. Second, the employees' innovativeness suggests their willingness to accept new technologies and to continuously acquire the necessary skills. Additionally, the employees are highly motivated to adopt and respond to data mining efforts when it is clearly defined in the business strategy.
