In recent years component-based software development has emerged as an important new set of methods and technologies. This paper describes a new course-Component Software-that focuses on componentbased design using technology-independent methods and component implementation using Enterprise JavaBeans. The paper outlines the approach and structure of the course. It also presents a case study used in the course.
