Abstract

This paper describes preliminary results of the challenges along with a proposed solution to a research project for developing a new methodology called LSD (Literate Software Development) accompanied with a tool, WebBox, for engineering software using a combination of box structures and literate programming. The union of two software engineering methodologies from two renowned computer scientists, Box Structures by the late Harlan Mills and Literate Programming by Donald Knuth has never before been accomplished or proposed, despite the fact that they are an ideal match; each one's strengths complement the other's shortcomings.
