Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to propose that following the teaching of entity-relationship modeling in the traditional way, visual CASE tools be used to introduce students to data modeling in object-oriented applications and XML schemas. The intent is to better align database courses with the teaching of object-oriented and network-based programming.
