Abstract

In the context of hierarchical level structured designs, two new level transistions are discussed. A downward transfer to a lower level of the system is introduced which involves a modified return mechanism. An upward return for exception handling using trap registers is generalized to many levels. This results in a level switch which is more flexible without much additional overhead.
