Abstract

Coarseness or fineness of spatial color variation is one of the valuable features of a color image. This paper proposes a new metric for measurement of intensity of spatial color variation. It is formulated by Haar wavelet transform. The metric was applied to analyze several painting arts. The characteristics of the paintings are well illustrated by the result of the analysis.
