Abstract

This paper summarizes our effort taken to introduce Quality of Service management into e-commerce systems. Goals and principles of management, Quality of Service (QoS) metrics and controllable parameters, and architecture of the management system prototype are described and analyzed. Priority scheme to specify users' requirements is proposed. The user can specify, perhaps for the price, his or her requirements to the system by means of priority and higher priority users will be not for free. The main part of proposed management system is a queueing model, which is presented and analyzed as well. Presented e-commerce management system prototype implements the core management functionality and can serve as a basis for building real-life Qos management system for such products as IBM Net. Commerce system and IBM WebSphere commerce suit.
