Abstract

A concept to integrate constraints and triggers into the object-oriented geo database kernel GOODAC is presented in this paper. We propose an extension of GOODAC's object definition language to include the definition of constraints and triggers within the class definitions. To reduce the number of constraints, triggers, and possibly affected objects which must be inspected after an update of the database, we provide a mechanism to determine all objects which are subject to constraints and triggers. The basic information needed for this mechanism is obtained by analyzing the class definitions.
