Abstract

In this article a methodology is presented in order to aid in the planning surgical ofabdominal aortic aneurysms. This method addresses the image recognition, specially of theaorta artery and abdominal aneurysm. After the recognition and segmentation of thosestructures it is possible to obtain a correct measurement of the same structures generatingmore reliable data for manufacturing required endoprostheses for the treatment of thepathology. With the three-dimensional reconstruction of the anatomical structures is alsopossible making the visualization and analysis of the data more reliable. This work is part ofthe Cyclops Project which intends the development of intelligent tools for the analysis ofmedical images, accomplished in partnership between UFSC and the University ofKaiserslautern, Germany.
