Distributing an application onto several machines is oneof the key aspects of Grid-computing. In the last few yearsseveral groups have developed solutions for the occurringcommunication problems. However, the focus on the machinesused in distributed environments has changed overthe time from Massively Parallel Processing Systems toClusters. This paper presents the problems arising whencoupling several cluster like systems and discusses possiblesolutions. Furthermore, we present performance resultsand performance drawbacks of the solutions discussed before.
