Abstract

This paper describes how a data set of sensor events from a recent Telecare trial has been filtered to provide a means of analysing activity in a home. Activity was measured using passive infra-red movement sensors located in each dwelling. Key to the trial was the detection of no activity. The use of mathematical modelling has enabled the determination of appropriate sensitivity levels, pertinent to individuals, to be accurately assessed. This modelling and analysis will assist in determining the best duration after which time a response action from a care provider should be initiated.
