The leasing concept enjoys increasing popularityin the context of distributed systems - a prime examplefor this is Jini. In this paper, we present a servicethat realises the leasing concept for the CORBA environment.We discuss various resource managementtechniques with regard to CORBA and detail theiradvantages and disadvantages. The focus of thiswork, however, is the description of the design andimplementation of our CORBA leasing service. Specialcare was taken to incorporate existing typesdefined in the CORBAservices specification to allowusers familiar with other CORBA services to quicklygrasp the newly-introduced leasing service.
