Abstract

The phrase “Software Linguistics” is applied here to a text-based perspective on software quality matters. There is much in the new work on Software Metrics generally, and Software Science in particular, that is reminiscent of the activities of Natural Language analysis. Maurice Halstead held that Software Science could shed light on Linguistics; this paper sketches some mutually informing reciprocities between the two fields, and across related areas of textual, literary, discourse, and communications analysis.
