The relational data model has been gaining steady acceptance by the design automation community. Although it has existed for many years and is currently all the rage in the data base research community, its acceptance by the DA community has been slow. The goal of this session will be to explore the role and applicability of the relational data model for CAD applications, primarily as applied to the design of digital electronic components and systems.
