Abstract

This paper seeks to provide insights into the psychological dynamics of programming in APL. These insights should allow the practitioner to better approach the APL programming environment and may stimulate more in-depth, empirical research into these psychological dynamics. The paper approaches APL both as a language and as a system which maps problems into solutions. The paper is analytical versus empirical in nature. The author draws on the plethora of work related to the topic of the paper in the development of a model of programming in APL.
