We briefly argue that APL and a relational DBMS are a natural match for application development. We consider four pragmatic questions of interfacing APL and SQL: representation of query results, representation of SQL statements, SQL parameterization, and context control. We conclude with a brief mention of three APL/SQL implementations: one complete, one in progress, and one proposed. We do not discuss the fascinating question of how relational DBMS functions might be added as APL language extensions.
