The suggestions made here are based on experience as a consultant, writer, and educator at an academic computing center, and on some wellworn precepts of educational psychology. The goal is to convince instructors of introductory computing classes to apply to the design of computing assignments some principles they probably already use in teaching the main content of their courses.
