Several major modifications have been made to a method proposed by Garside, Jarratt and Mack for finding roots of polynomial equations. The modifications have reduced the number of iterations and provided a set of starting values for the iterative procedure by implementing modified versions of Lehmer's method that assure convergence. The modifications were successful and a general purpose root finding algorithm that solves ill-conditioned polynomial equations has been produced. Numerical examples and comparisons are presented to substantiate the modified method's effectiveness.
