Using LSI microprocessors in designing of peripherical controllers makes it possible to build them in the form of a set of specific microprogrammed processors; the architecture of many systems is changing to the concept of intelligent machines. This paper gives as an example of such a controller: a graphic display unit. This unit was built up at the Institut de Programmation de Paris. It uses the binary rate multipliers (BRM) as a part of the display driver. The following pages give further informations about the whole system.
