This paper indicates the applicability of statistical procedures, known as response surface methodology, to the design and analysis of experiments performed with a stochastic simulation model. Fundamental simplex-sum designs are displayed explicitly and inferences therefrom are interpreted in terms suitable to the optimisation of the simular response function.
