Abstract

The Halstead and McCabe metrics were evaluated for their usefulness in identifying RPG II and RPG III modules likely to contain a high number of errors. For this evaluation, commercially available RPG modules written within IBM were measured and assigned to low, medium, or high metric value ranges. Conclusions from this evaluation and RPG counting rules that were concomitantly developed were presented at SCORE82 and are summarized in the following report.
