Abstract

This paper describes a simulation study of various job scheduling algorithms that are currently being utilized in modern computer systems. The emphasis is to study the effect of non-exponential service distributions on job scheduling efficiency. The statistics of concern are average quantum size, average idle time and average waiting time.
