Abstract

It is convenient to analyze social systems by applying techniques of abstract algebra to the social relations within the system. Two complementary techniques of analysis are given: one heuristic; the other computational. The former is a dynamic use of graphs and their algebraic properties. This can result in the uncovering of new social relations. Examples given include the study of couple relationships, and management structures.
