Abstract

A general distributed processing model is formulated, and the problem of task allocation is defined. A survey is made of various task allocation strategies that have been proposed in recent literature. Each strategy is described briefly with respect to the particular distributed processing model for which it is designed, and its tested performance and intended applicability are discussed.
