Several aspects of file organization are discussed in relation to magnetic bubble memory (MBM) and charge coupled devices (CCD). Cases are identified in which MBMs and/or CCDs require substantial differences in the nature or extent of certain file structures, as compared with older storage technologies. Tendencies for certain structure parameters to be much bigger or smaller for MBMs and CCDs than for disks and drums, are shown. Several structures are specifically shown to be suitable or unsuitable for MBMs and CCDs.
