Abstract

A combination of simulation modeling and measurement is employed for the performance evaluation of the computer system at TSING-HUA university, especially for the bottleneck analysis. First, a simulation model is developed for the system under study, then the model is validated by means of comparing the simulated system performance and the actual system performance. Results show satisfactory agreement. Also, the model is compared with the Round-Robin queue discipline model. Finally, five experiments are implemented using different workloads to locate the system bottleneck.
