Abstract

A new approach to providing economical and sophisticated access to the ARPA network. Built around the DEC PDP-11 family, the ARPA Network Terminal System (ANTS) provides its users with access to over 50 computer systems at more than 40 sites located all over the United States. The paper discusses the general design and philosophy of ANTS and its potential uses in various tele-communications situations.
