This paper describes the approach to the teaching of simulation at the University of Montreal. The language used is the present standard of SIMULA, sometimes referred to as SIMULA 67; however, the modelling approach is inspired from GPSS. This combination of an old and a new language has proved very fruitful. Little has so far been published on the new standard for SIMULA and it is hoped that the examples in this paper may serve as a painless introduction to simulation programming in this language.
