Abstract

We proposed a multi-phase multi-query optimization approach (MMO) for the parallel database. MMO considers multiple objectives. It overcomes the limitations in the two-phase and one-phase approaches, and can be easily integrated into the traditional optimizer. We discussed the strategies and algorithms for searching CO, rewriting queries, cost-based optimization and parallelization in MMO. Theoretic analysis proves that the efficiency of the MMO optimizer is high and the strategies searching for CO has little influence to the performance.
