Abstract

Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) is a U.S. Department ofEnergy Facility [1] conducting Nuclear Physics experiments that currently have datacollection rates of up to 20 MB/second. Future experiments, however, are expected togreatly exceed these rates. Post processing and data analysis produce similar amounts ofdata. Both the raw and processed data are stored on tape and need to be easily accessible.Between data collection and processing, the Mass Storage System at Jefferson Labcurrently moves over 2 TB of data per day.
