Abstract

Due to the popularity of high-speed networks andadvances in packaging and interface technologies, therehas been significant efforts for providing highperformance applications as network services that canbe accessed remotely across the network, thus promotingsharing of both software and hardware. For high-demandnetwork services, in particular, it will often bethe case that the network services are installed atmultiple sites so that each participating site can handleparts of client requests. We label such services as Grid-Enablednetwork services. In this paper, we present twoadaptive site selection heuristics that do not depend onaccurate predictions of completion times of servicerequests: Weight Queue Length Based Heuristic andMulti-level Queue Based Selection.
