Abstract

This paper proposes the modeling and theperformance analysis of a high-level control protocol -COCOP, which enables cooperative groups of clients tocontrol a shared server delivering time-dependant dataservices. Several synchronous multimedia systems such asmedia on-demand, web casting, and networks ofreal/virtual sensors, can beneficially exploit COCOP tofurnish cooperative control sessions. The protocol can bemapped onto a multicast transport support based eitheron IP-multicast or on an application level multicastinfrastructure. An event-driven simulation framework ispurposely customized and exploited to analyze theprotocol performance and thus the dynamics of acooperative control session over simple, yet representativetopologies.
