Abstract

This paper presents an efficient approach based onOBDD for the reliability analysis of a multi-state systemsubject to imperfect fault-coverage with combinatorialperformance requirements.Since there exist dependenciesbetween combinatorial performance requirements, weapply the Multi-state Dependency Operation (MDO)ofOBDD to deal with these dependencies in a multi-statesystem.In addition, this OBDD-based approach iscombined with the conditiona probability methods to findsolutions for the multi-state imperfect coverage models.Using conditional probabilities,we can also apply thismethod for modular structures. The main advantage of thisalgorithm is that it will take computational time that isequivalent to the same problem without assuming imperfectcoverage (i.e.with perfect coverage). This algorithm is veryimportant for complex systems such as fault-tolerantcomputer systems, since it can obtain the complete resultsquickly and accurately even when there exist a number ofdependencies such as shared oads (reconfiguration),degradation and common-cause failures.
