Abstract

The Mobile Agent paradigm seems to provide promisingsolutions for developing applications in the Internetenvironment. However, the adoption of mobile agentsintroduces specific problems related to the specificationand control of agent migration strategies. The paperadvocates a policy-based solution to support the flexiblemanagement and dynamic configurability of agentmobility behaviour. Our solution permits to define agentmigration strategies at a high level of abstraction, separately from the agent code, thus promoting a clearseparation between mobility and computational concerns. The paper describes the policy-based middleware thatallows to adapt at run time agent migration strategies toevolving application requirements and environmentconditions without impact on the agent codeimplementation.
