This paper proposes a virtual brush model based ondroplet operation and its application on retrievingcharacter outlines and character modeling in Chinesecalligraphy style. In the proposed approach, a virtualbrush model based on droplet operation is applied toproduce vivid character outlines. The droplet model helpsto compute stroke area with well-defined geometryinformation and leads to the feasibility to retrieve theoutlines of characters with well-defined geometryrepresentation. Further more, the variations of the modelcan express various Chinese brush styles, so by using thedroplet model, we successfully overcome the poorexpressive ability of the previous curve-offset method. Thecomplex evaluation of stroke area based on physicalsolid-model brush is also eliminated since the simplicityof the model.
