Abstract

The use of fractals in computer graphics and vision inmodeling unstructured images, and compressing images, iswell known. However, the use of fractals for indexing imagesin content based retrieval of video and static imageshas not received as much attention.In this paper, we provide the theoretical arguments tojustify their use in image retrieval. Our web-enabled implementationon the FERET database shows encouragingresults.
