Abstract

This paper presents the design of open system techniques to integrate a real-time database into a distributed computing environment. The techniques are illustrated by describing a prototype implementation of a CORBA "wrapper" for the commercial Zip real-time database management system. The CORBA wrapper supports a subset of the standard SQL database query language.
